Grasslyn Manor Private Property I&I Reduction Program

Greenprint is partnering with the Milwaukee Department of Public Works (DPW) to support the Grasslyn Manor Private Property Infiltration & Inflow (I&I) Reduction Program, a pilot initiative addressing sewer system components that cause basement backups and overflows.

Milwaukee's Grasslyn Manor neighborhood faces environmental challenges from historical factors — including disinvestment and its location over former waterways — and current issues like high imperviousness and inconsistent infrastructure. These conditions create persistent I&I problems that increase backup and overflow risks.

The program follows a multi-phase approach: outdoor neighborhood testing, voluntary home investigations and coordinated improvements including sump pumps, sewer lateral replacements and downspout disconnections. As DPW's strategic partner, Greenprint provides community engagement expertise to optimize resident outreach, determine effective messaging and timing, and ensure smooth program delivery. We create outreach materials, provide program management guidance and help eligible homeowners access all services — from investigations to repairs — at no cost through Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District grant funding.
