Growing Home Urban Farm

Growing Home Urban Farm will be home to a USDA-certified organic urban farm, workforce development center and nonprofit social enterprise in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago. A collaboration with UrbanWorks and APMonarch, Greenprint is providing landscape architectural services for the new 70,000-square-foot building and campus.

In addition to expanding the at-grade row crop footprint of the farm, the design includes new hoop houses for year-long growing, and a rooftop pollinator food meadow filled with native perennial plants and edible harvests. Even the ornamental planting beds surrounding the building are filled with native flowering perennials. Adjacent to the under-development Englewood Trail, a multi-use pathway on decommissioned freight rail right-of-way, the new campus serves as a connection point for the Englewood Community, a job training center and a haven for native plant and animal species to thrive.
