Greenprint worked with the RainReady Robbins Steering Committee to develop the Robbins Heritage Trail Plan. The philanthropically funded plan outlines strategies for connecting historic sites in the Village of Robbins to the nearby African American Heritage Water Trail.
Developed with the Steering Committee, Village staff and residents, the plan identifies infrastructure and placemaking strategies to celebrate Robbins' historic sites, boost connectivity and establish a distinguished look and feel that supports increased recognition and community pride. The plan includes two conceptual drawings for improvements prioritized by the Steering Committee, the Robbins Metra Station and a boat launch at South Woodlawn Avenue, demonstrating two viable projects that could enhance public space. Key proposed features at these sites include an ADA-accessible boat launch and a memorial garden honoring local Tuskegee Airmen.
Throughout the planning process, Greenprint engaged residents through regular Steering Committee meetings and community events to gather input on desired improvements. An implementation strategy provides guidance to achieve the vision and advance infrastructure and placemaking improvements that honor the Village's cultural and historical heritage while improving public access and community resilience.
